Riff  /  a desk instrument, no.01

You drum on your desk all day. We finally gave it an instrument.

Riff: a slim walnut tap-pad instrument clipped to the edge of a desk.

Riff. Play in the margins.

Riff clips to the edge of your desk and turns those idle taps into real music. Knock the right beat, and it fires a shortcut too.

Go on, make a beat. Tap the pads, or mash A S D F.

I   The habit

You already do this. All day. Your fingers drum a rhythm on the desk while your brain works.

It is the most honest thing your hands do at work. So we asked one question: what if that little beat actually went somewhere?

II   The idea

What if the tap had power?

Give that restless rhythm an output. Your workday gets a soundtrack, and the odd quiet superpower, without ever leaving the desk.

III   Instrument

Tap. Pick a voice. Make something.

Four pads, any instrument. Drum between meetings, sketch a piano line, loop it, record it. Choose a voice below, then play the pads up top.

IV   The party trick

Knock the right beat. Your computer obeys.

Set a secret rhythm and Riff fires a shortcut. Wake the screen, start a timer, mute the call. It stays silent until you call it with a beat only you know.

V   The object

Built to earn its spot on your desk.

Solid walnut, woven-textile pads, a clip that hides underneath. Calm while you work, alive the second you play it. Hover any frame to see it in colour.
